January/February Favourites

It seems like forever since I did a favourites post! Yaay for trying new products....and liking them :)

Beauty Protector 'Protect & Detangle' leave in conditioner
This has been one of my best beauty discoveries of last year. It has transformed my hair. I use this on damp hair before I blow dry and it leaves my hair soft and shiny with no sign of frizz. It also smells amazing which is a brilliant bonus.

Shaveworks 'The Cool Fix' targeted gel lotion
I shave my eyebrows. Is that weird? i hate plucking and waxing and i'm not brave enough to try threading! The problem with this is that I end up with, not only redness but, dry patches. I have found that if I apply this liberally straight away that these problems are none existent. It's a super quick step but solves all kinds of problems.

Sophia Webster for Birchbox purse
I didn't think much of this when I got it but if I'm just nipping somewhere then this is the perfect size to carry a couple of cards in your pocket. Sometimes you don't need to take a whole bag of things with you.

Mac -Pink Noveau Satin Lipstick
I love how creamy and yet really longlasting, this lipstick is. I don't care what time of year it is, barbie pink is a colour that will always be in season for me. This would be her favourite lipstick.

Shrek the Musical
I literally bought this over a year ago and never fancied watching it until recently. Major mistake on my part. I've had it on continuously ever since. I've never been overly taken with the film but I adore the musical. It's definitely now on my list to see live.

Writing a Diary
I don't know whether I've been watching too much of The Vampire Diaries but I've kind of started a diary. Not a 'Dear Diary, today I....' kind of thing but a thoughts and feelings notebook. When my mind has a lot going on, I stick it down and it keeps them from festering in my brain. I'd definitely recommend it.

Bellá Pierre Cosmetics 'coral cheek & lip stain'
This isn't a colour I would have gone into a shop and bought because it looks really intense and scary in the pot. That's the best thing about beauty subscription boxes, I suppose. This applies really well with the Real Techniques stippling brush and you can blend it out to a really gorgeous subtle shade. I have been wearing this everyday recently and I love it.

Models Own polish in Obsidian
I love dark nails but black can get kinda boring so this is the perfect alterative. It only takes two coats to get amazing coverage and doesn't chip easily. Models Own are nipping at Barry's heels in terms of my favourite brand polishes.

I don't know if this should count as it was only on for about two weeks but my favourite tv show recently has been The Jump. I'm gutted it's over :'(
It's really made me want to go and live in the snow for a year and learn everything.

What have you been loving recently?

After the Oscars, there's the Vanity Fair Party.....

Consider the Oscars the prinking (pre drinking) session to the bit everyone had actually been waiting for....

the after party! My favourite is always the Vanity fair bash because of the stars it attracts. That's generally where I find the fashion that I personally love.
Choosing my best dressed for the after party wasn't nearly as hard as the main event as there were only two looks I was crazy about. These two ladies are favourites of mine anyway but they've definitely pulled the fashion out of the bag this time.

Katie Cassidy in Zuhair Murad (Spring 2014)

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Alexandre Vauthier Couture (Spring 2015)

Who were your best dressed from the Oscars parties?

My Best Dressed: Oscars 2015

I was like a kid in a candy shop at the arrivals for the 87th Annual Academy Awards. I narrowed my best dressed down to 6(!) I realise 'Top 6' isn't really a thing so I slept on it and we now have a more orderly number.

My 'Top 3' best dressed are.....

Emma Stone in Ellie Saab

Keira Knightley in Valentino

Sienna Miller in Oscar de la Renta

I'm sad awards season is over (sob!) but now I'll have the time to actually watch the films everybody has spent the last couple of months talking about. I'm sure next years awards will be with us before we know it.

The Glamour Party Beauty Edit Box

Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels
'Works both as a pre -makeup eye freshener and post-party reviver'

Philip Kingsley Shampoo and Conditioner
'this power duo delivers everyday silky-soft hair, replacing the moisture that styling and winter weather has knocked out'
The problem with sets like this is that you are inevitably going to run out of the shampoo and lot more quickly than the conditioner so you can't give the 'power duo' a fair trial

Popband London
'these elasticated, no-dent bands keep hair firmly in place - and leave it kink-free'

Wild About Beauty Powder Eyeshadow in 09 Heather
'Sweep these highly pigmented shadows across lids for a wearable smoky eye'

Xen-Tan Luminous Gold Gel
'A deep golden colour will develop in just three hours'

Collection Lengthening Mascara
'This is your go-to wand for a mile-long, luscious flutter'
I haven't opened this yet because I already have wuite a few mascaras on the go but I imagine the wand is going to be a lot like the Rimmel Scandaleyes.

Stila Smudge stick Waterproof eye Liner in Black Amethyst
'Meet the budge-proof liner that lasts and lasts'
I love Stila liners. They really do last for ages - perfect for a night out. The ease at which they smudge also means that you can create a smokey eye in under two minutes without the need for any other products. Bonus!

Burts Bees Lip Shimmer in Rhubarb
'Apply this gorgeous. bright but delicate shades for a touch of winter sparkle'
The only way I can describe this is that it is a 'shimmery tinted balm'. It makes my lips tingle in the same way that Carmex does.

Vichy Purette Thermale 3 in 1 & Idealia Life Serum
'This cleanser, toner and eye makeup remover in one is perfect for girls on the go'
I have never tried any Vichy skincare. I'm trying to use current products before I test out anymore but I've only heard good things about the brand and I love things I've tried from the Dermablend range from the brand.

L'Oreal Paris Elnett Satin
'Keeps hair in place, however long you're on the dancefloor'

Lola Nail Polish in Bluebell
'flatters all skintones, works with any party look and the long-lasting formula means there's no worry about constant touch-ups'
I would have preferred the grey colour because something about blue irritates me on my fingers. Not in an allergy way! I just don't like looking it against my skin tone. This is a great spring colour, though.

This was my first 'ready made' beauty box (if that's the right phrase) and I love it. I love that you know exactly what you're getting because that way you can work out if it's actually worth the money for your personal taste.
