Essence 'All About Nude 01' palette

I'm having such a love affair with Essence at the moment so when I saw that they do palettes, I just had to snap this one up.

The palette consists of six shadows ranging from a cream, which is perfect for highlighting, to a crease worthy plum.
I tried swatching these colours but the camera was not doing them justice. For some reason they look much more pigmented on the eyes.

My New Favourite Face Brush!! 'Wilko Premium' Powder Brush

Everybody say hello to my new favourite face brush.

'Our powder brush is a large, fluffy brush with soft bristles that bevel to a slight point for application under the eyes and around the nose and face'
I tried to get hold of this brush for so long! I spotted the tester a while ago but there was no stock.
Each brush in the 'Wilko Premium' set comes in its own plastic zip lock case which isn't the most chic looking thing but definitely comes in handy when you're travelling with the brushes. It can even be used as general storage for other items.

The matte black barrel looks a lot more expensive than the £4 that this brush costs. It doesn't look at all out of place in my pot next to the few higher end brushes.

It isn't only the design which makes this brush a bargain.
This brush is proof (to me at least) that you don't have to pay a lot of money for good quality tools. The bristles are dense and really soft, comparable to Real Techniques. This works brilliantly with both loose and pressed powders. I haven't personally tried it with liquids but I've read a lot of reviews which say that it works brilliantly for foundations as well. As far as powder goes,
it's easily the best brush I've tried.

I wash this brush with my beauty blender solid cleanser, as I do all my other brushes, and have honestly had no problems. They wash really well, remain super soft and I haven't had any issues with fallout from the bristles.

Have you tried any of the brushes from the line? I was really pleasantly surprised and I'll definitely be looking at picking a couple more up.

My Very First MAC Puchase....*pause for gasps*

Despite being 23 and a massive lover of makeup, I have never owned anything from MAC - I had just never felt the urge to spend their prices..... Until I saw this on Cohorted. I don't know whether that's a legit site for getting a bargain but if you tell me I'm getting money off then I'm automatically more interested.
I am so in love with the colour. Barbie would adore this colour.

I'm not massively in the know about the different finishes of MACs lipsticks but this is a Satin.
I find this lipstick is seriously creamy and yet builds well. I've been wearing this over a NYX lip liner in Nude Pink and haven't experienced any cracking or bleeding. It also smells/tastes really good, not at all chemically.

I have to say that, whilst I can't see me starting a large collection, if I do see a colour I really like I won't be letting the price put me off again. I definitely think some products have a slightly higher price point for a reason and I'm glad I took the plunge for this one.

Have any of you tried Cohorted and got any good deals?

Birchbox Breakdown - December 2014

Ilsci Organics Gel Mask
The full size retails from £39.95
'The plant based treatment uses natural actives and a soothing gel formula to smooth and rejuvenate'
I imagine if you were using this as a full face mask that you could get two or three uses out of this sample. I haven't tried this out yet because I received the Flavanoid Extra version and it does not smell good.

Electric Hair Electric Hydrate Shampoo
Full size retails for £17.50
'Helps to repair damage and improve shine with this nourishing, moisture-rich formula'
This is a super small sample. I find with shampoo and conditioner samples that they don't allow you enough of an opinion to decide whether or not you'd be interested in buying the full size. I have a lot of hair and I wash it two/three times each time to keep it looking healthy which this sample size wouldn't stretch to. I'll probably end up giving this to my mum or sister as they only have thin hair.

Eyeko Fat Eye Stick in Smoke
Full size £8
'Your smokey eye just got as easy as 1-2-3 with this pigmented jumbo pencil'
I thought this was a gunmetal colour when I first opened it but, the more I look at it, I think it might be a super duper dark midnight blue. Regardless of me being colour blind, I actually really like this. It doesn't crease considerably and it blends like a dream.

Benefit Christmas Cracker - High Beam
Full size retails for £19.50
'a suits-all skintones liquid illuminator'
This is perfect for anybody who prefers a liquid highlight. That being said, I would never pay £19.50 for the full size of this because it doesn't do anything out of this world. I do really like this though and I have a hard time seeing when I'll even finish this tiny version because you really do only need to tiniest amount.

Models Own Nail Polish in Obsidian
Full size £5
'Matte, yet sparkly, this multi-dimensional shade has a velvety finish'
I think this polish is a bargain at £5. I'm always super impressed with the quality of Models Own polishes and this one did not disappoint. I actually stayed subscribed to Birchbox for the extra month because I knew this product was coming. It has a mixture of small and large glitter flecks so you can either use it sparingly as a top coat or apply a couple of coats to create a full glitter look.

Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil
Full size retails for £16.50
'A fine blend of pure rosehip oil for when your skin's in need of some extra nourishment'
This comes with a pipette off of school science lessons. A little goes a long way, there's no real smell and it appears to be a yellow oil-like liquid which blends out clear.

Sophia Webster Purse
£25
I certainly wouldn't pay anywhere near £25 for this but it is a super cute design and I love the colours. This is the perfect size to stick cards in and throw in a clutch.

Does anybody else have the Eyeko stick in Smoke? What colour is it actually supposed to be?

GOSH '...to enjoy in New York' Shadow Collection

One of my least favourite things about Christmas is that once something is on your list, you have to wait. I've been lusting after this palette for so long but once it had been mentioned as something I wanted, it was a case of playing the waiting game.
Finally, I have my hands on it!

There are three GOSH 9 shade shadow collections:
  • to enjoy in New York
  • to have fun in LA
  • to play with in Vegas
Of the three, this is the one which I thought would be most wearable on a daily basis. There are seriously bright colours in the other two but all of these can be worn as a subtle everyday look.

This palette is full of shimmery shades which isn't something that usually appeals to me. I remember a friend wearing shimmery eyeshadow to school and my teacher telling her she looked like a goldfish and I've strayed towards mattes ever since. This palette, however, was too pretty to ignore.

The two outside colours off the top row aren't particularly pigmented but I can definitely see myself using them as highlights.
I do absolutely love the central colour - the darkest purple, and I've been wearing that all over the lid on days when I'm going for a more 'grungy' look. It's probably my standout colour from the whole palette.

The consistency is definitely more on the dry side so I make sure I always do my eyes first to avoid any mess from  potential fall out. Despite this, I do find these fairly easy to blend and even without a primer they stay on my lids for a considerable amount of time.

The palette itself looks a lot more expensive than it actually is (£9.99!!) with it being super slim and matte black. I'm a sucker for matte black. I was worried when I felt just how slim the packaging is was that it would mean less product but I think the large surface area of each shade means you probably get what you would with a normal pan.

Has anyone else got this palette, or tried any GOSH shadows? What are your thoughts?
