July Haul

I'm not one for mass shopping sprees so it makes more sense for me to keep my hauls monthly.
Every time I go shopping my intention is to add more colour to my wardrobe and I usually end up just buying more black items.

My first two items were from Topshop.

The dress is from the Tall range and was down from £32 to £10. I wouldn't normally buy anything as fitting as this dress but I took the unusual step of trying it on and it was surprisingly flattering. Also, since I've gotten it home, I've realised it's actually two sizes small than I actually am and was on the wrong hanger :)

In sizing contrast, I got the jacket in a size too big because it was the only one left in store and looked really nice with the dress. I love the waterfall effect of the front and the fact that it doesn't fasten because I think it looks really flattering on slightly larger shapes. The jacket was £45 down to £15.

My next three items are from New Look.

The first shirt is definitely a brave purchase on my part. I'd had my eye on it for a while and had seen a colleague at work with it on and thought it looked great but it's more colour than I normally feel comfortable wearing. This was down from £17.99 to £7.

The second shirt is a 'boxy' shirt and so it sits just above my belt of my trousers. I love the pattern and the whole vibe of the shirt screams '90s' to me, which I adore. This was also originally £17.99 and was in the sale for £8.

My third New Look purchase was this earrings/necklace set. I remember looking at it at Christmas and thinking it was strange that there was a dog on the packaging. The necklace seriously describes me as I'm not a massive fan of Christmas but I was always putting off buying it as I would ever wear the earrings. For £2 I no longer had an excuse because it's practically a steal and I can just give the earrings to my sister.

I find it hard to resist shopping in Debenhams when I see new sale items coming through the tills.

My first two Debenhams purchases are from the 'Julien Macdonald' line they stock.
The bag is called the 'Flapover Lock Music Bag'. I work on womenswear so I don't always get over to accessories but when a lady bought this at my till I knew I had to take a trip over and hope there was another one there. This was down from £55 to £16.50. The only problem with this is that it is a really stiff leather meaning it doesn't fit as much in as I'm used to carrying around. I'm hoping that with wear and tear that it will soften a little and I'll be able to squeeze some more things in.

The top is an animal print cami with chain straps which a lady tried on when I was working on the fitting room. She decided she didn't want it and her loss was my gain because when I saw it was 70% off in the sale, I had to have it! £38 to £11.40 is hard to say no to.

As with most stores we have adverts on rotation between the songs advertising current offers and new exciting products. After about a fortnight of hearing about the new 'Benefit They're Real' liner, I made an impulse buy. Those adverts are really persuasive! I'd never bought anything from Benefit before and still haven't fully decided whether it was worth £18.50 but I'm trying it out and will write a review when I've made my mind up.

I find it much easier shopping for other people so this has been a good shopping month for me :)

Would you rather? Beauty Edition

1. Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks, and lip glosses or lose all of your palettes and eye shadows?
Palettes and shadows for sure. The only thing I really wouldn't 100% mind losing in that whole lot is mascara. You can't tell I've even got eyelashes when I'm not wearing mascara #gingerproblems

2. Would you rather chop all of your hair off or never be able to cut it again?
Never be able to cut it again. My face isn't the right shape for baldness. Also, as a really shy person, I hide behind my hair (literally) quite a lot.

3. Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek?
Pink. I love a rosy cheek.

4. If you had $1000 to spend, would you rather buy clothes or makeup?
Clothes. But I'd probably spend it all on one item rather than a spree.

5. Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner, or eyeliner as lipstick?
Eyeliner as lipstick because it would be the same texture/ feel as lipliner (right?) whereas lipstick on the eyes would just rub off and feel all sticky.

6. Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?
I don't shop in MAC so probably Sephora (If England actually had it)

7. Would you rather only use one eyeshadow colour or one lip colour for the rest of your life?
I think I could live in 'On and On Bronze' forever, if I was allowed to pick my shadow :p
I do tend to wear a different lip colour everyday though so I'd rather only have one shadow.

8. Would you rather wear winter clothes in summer or summer clothes in winter?
I'm all about layering and generally avoid hot weather so probably winter clothes in summer.

9. Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year round?
I have dark nails all year round anyway. I usually either have black or wine on.

10. Would you rather give up your favourite lip colour or favourite eye product?
Favourite lip colour. I think eyes change a face so that would probably have the biggest impact.

11. Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a ponytail or messy bun?
Ponytail. I hardly ever wear my hair up (because I use it to hide behind) but when I do it's in a messy ponytail so I can still kind of end up with hair around my face. With a bun, there's too much face on show.

12. Would you rather never be able to paint your nails again or never use lipgloss?
I don't use lipgloss, I'm not a fan of sticky lips and I feel naked without my nails painted so this is a no brainer.

13. Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all or sharpie them in everyday?
I naturally don't really have visible eyebrows anyway and I've got a full fringe so I'd probably shave them off. I'm too pale to have constant black brows.

14. Would you rather live without makeup or nail polish?
I feel naked without nail varnish but most of my features are practically invisible without makeup so as much as it pains me to say it, I'd have to give up nail varnish.

I didn't imagine that this tag would be so difficult to complete. I'm feeling very thankful that I never have to follow through with my answers.

What's in my bag?

My current bag is by Jasper Conran for Debenhams. It was originally £110 and so, when it went in the sale at around £30, I had to have it. It would have been rude to turn down such a bargain.

I am one of the many who are guilty of carrying too much but below is a list of my handbag essentials.

1.Purse. My current purse is a lime green one from Topshop.

2.Hand sanitiser. I don't like gimmicky hand creams or sanitisers. I'm all about the really strong alcohol smell.

3.Filofax. I think it's a personal size metropol. I only began using it religiously half way through June but it helps me keep track of work shifts, how often I'm going to the gym (or not) and I've got lots of blog posts planned. I keep a blue and black 'frixion' pen in there as it's easy to correct mistakes or changed plans.

4.Make up bag. My make up bag is Cath Kidston and I just pop in there anything I'm wearing that day which may need touching up.

5.Chewing gum. I always carry a tub instead of a packet and they always make an annoying shaking noise when my bag knocks against my leg when walking.

6.Carmex. I've had this one for over a year now and still haven't run out. I find it a lot easier to keep track of the tub than it is your average tube.

7.Watch. I only wear this watch when I'm working so I just keep it in my bag so I know where it is.

8.Back combing brush. Since my hair has gotten longer I've started wearing it up for work but I hate when ponytails or plaits are flat so this helps liven the look up a bit. Also, it was only £2 from Primark so I had to have it.

9.Keys. This is just my house key with various store cards attached. I had a K9 keyring guarding my keys but his head fell off so I'm waiting for a replacement :(

10.Lighter.

11.Earrings. I always forget to put earrings in of a morning, but the chances are, these hoops are the ones I'm wanting to wear so it's handy to keep them in my bag.

12.Red Bull. I'm addicted to the sugar free cans and I turn into a moody cow when I haven't had one in a while. It's in every bodies best interest that I have one on me at all times.
