MY THOUGHTS: Maybelline Moisture Extreme in Royal Red

A girl can never have too many red lipsticks.

I can't rave enough about this one. I love it!

I was told when I was younger that redheads should avoid red lipstick (and just red in general). That stuck with me for years. Then, one day, I tried it and bloody loved it! Moral of the story, don't let other people tell you what suits you. Part of the fun is working that out for yourself.

The formula is really creamy - it's like a hybrid of a lipstick and a lipbalm. This is where the 'moisture extreme' comes in and is definitely a title that this product lives up to, it isn't at all drying.
I would recommend using a liner underneath this product as it is super soft and I sometimes find it sliding a little bit. I would also say that I do find myself having to reapply a couple of times throughout the day but that isn't a major issue for me.

Another plus to this lipstick is that it smells like melon, which isn't something I've come across in a lip product before, but is something that I definitely welcome.

I don't know whether this is just me but I find that my teeth look a lot whiter with this on. I can't stop smiling.
I can't put my finger on the actual colour. It's a definite fire engine red but sometimes I feel it leans more orange and sometimes I get blue undertones. Try it for yourself and let me know what you think.

I read somewhere that this product has been discontinued (boo!) but you can still get hold of it on sites such as eBay and I would definitely recommend this to any lipstick lover.

What are your favourite red lipsticks?

My Favourite Brow Products

I know I'm not alone when I say that brows are one of the most important parts of my face routine everyday. Brows can seriously change the way your face looks and help make your eyes stand out in the process. But as a ginge, my brows are naturally very blonde. Not ideal! I would be lost without these four products....

30 day lash and brow tint

I would never do this on my lashes because I'm too clumsy to personally be using chemicals that close to my eyes but tinting the brows makes my makeup routine much simpler. The only colours they do are 'dark brown' and 'black and I have been known to leave this on too long and end up like Juno in Wild Child (whoops) but if I'm paying attention this helps to give my brows a more natural look and base for the next products.

Avon Glimmerstick

This has a super soft consistency; almost waxy. This means it glides on, is easily smudged away if mistakes are made and looks really natural.

Model Co More Brows
This lasts forever. I love the ashy tones to this particular colour which mean it isn't too harsh and the tiny brush is amazing for getting the outer points of the brows.

Maybelline Brow Drama
Lots of people moan about the shape of this brush but I think it's really easy to work with. The colour is a lot more intense than the 'Model co' colour which creates a harsher brow. If you're not in the strong brow game then this probably wouldn't be the product for you.

What products would you recommend for brows?
I'm currently debating whether or not to get the Mac Veluxe Brow Liner in 'Redhead'. Has anyone tried it?

MY THOUGHTS: TRESemme 2805U Volume Hair Curling Tong

I'm not going to lie, I've totally stolen this off my sister. She never uses it, it was feeling abandoned!

I love that the barrel is pink because I don't store these in a box so it makes it easy to spot in my appliance drawer.

I probably end up with an average of 20 curls as I find this holds best with smaller sections of hair. That being said, even on the highest heat (there are three settings), these curls don't last all day.
When using my Babyliss tong, I can usually get three days out of the curls. I, personally, don't get anywhere near that long with this. I find my hair starts dropping throughout the day no matter how much hairspray I pile on.
Also, this is pointless to do before bed as the curls will be non-existent the next morning.

This has a 32mm barrel and the large curl you get drops almost instantly to create natural looking waves.
This is perfect if you are going to an event that isn't necessarily to going to last all day, maybe an awards show or a concert.

Has anybody had a different experience with this product?

15 Festive Favourites

I stole this off a girl I follow on Tumblr ;)

1. Favourite festive food?

I don't know if these count but they're only out at Christmas so I'm going with it, Mr Kipling's Frosted Fancies. I eat those things by the box. My seasonal weight gain is all down to Mr Kipling and those yummy pieces of heaven.

2. Favourite reindeer?
Donner. All the other names are really random and then there's good ol' Donner.

3. Favourite day from '12 days of Christmas'?
5 Gold Rings because I like the way it's exaggerated and also, I'm a girl who loves jewellery.

4. Favourite Christmas song?

There's one about grandma being run over by a reindeer which I absolutely love. If we're sticking to chart ones then Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)

5. Favourite Christmas present?
A few years ago a family friend took me and my sister to Disneyland Paris for the few days before Christmas and it was immense!

6. Favourite Christmas film?
Jingle All The Way

7. Favourite Christmas cracker toy?
Not a massive fan of toys, just a simple crown hat does me.

8. Favourite cracker joke?
I can't think off the top of my head but the worse, the better when it comes to Christmas.

9. Favourite Christmas decoration?
Tinsel. I just bloody love tinsel.

10. Favourite candle scent?

My favourite scent in life is Glade 'spiced apple and cinnamon'.

11. Favourite Christmas tv advert?
I like the Argos aliens who don't know how to work anything. Not sure if they're around this year.
I loved the Rosie one for M+S last year as well.

12. Favourite Christmas tradition?
I don't really have any traditions. The only consistent thing we do every year is go to my grandparents house at 11ish and stay until just before Doctor Who (not important any more). I tried to make going to the park to feed the ducks a tradition but it didn't really catch on. Oh and me and my sister have started tracking Santa through Christmas Eve which is fun but again not really a tradition.

13. Favourite place to spend christmas?
My grandparents house because they have all the foods ;)

14. Favourite Christmas fact?
I had to google this and I don't know if it's actually a 'fact' but I like it...
Santa Claus is based on a real person, St. Nikolas of Myra (also known as Nikolaos the Wonderworker, Bishop Saint Nicholas of Smyrna, and Nikolaos of Bari), who lived during the fourth century. Born in Patara (in modern-day Turkey), he is the world’s most popular non-Biblical saint, and artists have portrayed him more often than any other saint except Mary. He is the patron saint of banking, pawnbroking, pirating, butchery, sailing, thievery, orphans, royalty, and New York City
15. Favourite Snowman accessory?

My Top 5: Perfumes

I definitely have a distinct taste when it comes to perfumes and that is woody/musky scents so I thought this would be the perfect time of year to share my ultimate top 5 perfumes. These are staples in my collection and have been for some years now. I've gone through numerous bottles of each. There isn't a whole lot I can say about why they are my faves other than 'they smell nice' but here goes.
I've got one anomaly to the bunch and that's the one I shall start with....

1) Heiress by Paris Hilton *pauses for judgement*
Top Notes: Passion fruit, Orange, Peach Granita, Champagne Mimosa
Base Notes: Violet leaf, Vetiver, Tonka, Blonde Woods
Based on the base notes this doesnt seem out of place in my top five but for me this perfume doesn't get particularly musky no matter how long you wear it for. I find this remains fairly fruity smelling.

2) Chanel No.5
Top Notes: Ylang-Ylang, Neroli, Aldehydes
Base Notes: Sandalwood, Vetiver
I used to steal my mum's about 10 years ago and it's been my absolute favourite ever since. It smells really sophisticated and expensive to me. There's a reason this is a cult classic. It's the ultimate scent.
PS. I'm absolutely obsessed with the new Gisele advert <3

3) Stella by Stella McCartney
Top Notes: Mandarin, Rose, Peony
Base Notes: Woody ambers
This is generally my go to scent for a night out. I get lots of compliments from girls on this one. I find this settles to the base notes really quickly and lasts for ages!

4) Parisienne by Yves Saint Laurent
Top Notes: Cranberry, Blackberry
Base Notes: Patchouli, Vetiver, Musk, Sandalwood
This is generally my go to scent for daytime. I get more compliments from guys on this one. I don't find the top notes fully disappear with this one so it remains fairly fruity but it it still a very autumnal scent.

5) Red Door by Elizabeth Arden
Top Notes: Orange blossom, Plum, Peach, Anise
Base Notes: Heliotrope, Sandal, Cedar, Musk, Amber, Benzoin
This scent reminds me of East End ladies like Peggy Mitchell. Let me explain.....I'm obsessed with the ones who get up two hours early every morning to do a full face of makeup and go to the supermarket dressed to the nines and who only ever take taxis. They smell like Red Door to me.

Do you have any musky favourites?

Babyliss Wave Envy Hair Styler

I could not be more obsessed with this thing at the moment.

I used to wash my hair before bed and sleep with about a dozen plaits in to get this effect. The problem with that is that most of the time my hair would still be damp when I woke up. Thick hair curses! Thanks to this contraption, I don't have to do that anymore. Granted, this does take twice as long to do as it would to straighten or curl my hair but it takes a hell of a lot less time than it did to tightly plait all of my hair.

There are three heat settings but as with all hair appliances, I always go straight for the hottest. My hair is like a moody teenager so anything less than that won't work.

This probably takes about half an hour to complete all of my hair but the results last for days. Plus, I have a lot of hair. If you have a normal amount, it will take less time.

Crimping my hair may just have overtaken my love of curls!

I'd definitely recommend trying this out if you haven't.

The Quiet Place Project

The Quiet Place Project is something I think everybody needs to be aware of. It is a wesbite/app which allows you to escape from the stresses of life for as little as 90 seconds.
My mental state is something I struggle with on a regular basis and I find the music (especially) helpful. It allows me to switch my brain off and focus on my breathing.
If you ever feel like things are getting on top of you or you just need a timeout then I recommend checking this place out.

MY THOUGHTS: Cattier Paris Argile Rose Clay Mask (sensitive skin)

Contains pink clay and aloe vera. A mild and purifying treatment specially suited for sensitive skin. This mask clarifies the skin and provides it with important nutrients.

I've never found a face mask that I thought was worth bothering with. My usual experience is that they just don't live up to the claims. Until now. I really enjoyed using this mask.

This product dried super quickly when on the skin. I applied it fairly liberally so I had serious struggles trying to talk with it on (probably not a bad thing for my family).

I found it easiest filling the sink with medium/hot water and using cotton pads in a circular motion to remove.

Something I'm currently using is causing me breakouts and I've currently got spots, blemishes and some scarring. This mask seems to be doing a brilliant job at calming any redness, taking any inflammation from the skin.
One thing I'm not the biggest fan of is the smell but I'm willing to put up with it for up to half an hour a week for these results.

I've obviously only used it for the length of the samples. I got 5 masks out of the two sachets so I'm not the biggest expert but
I'll definitely be purchasing the full size and giving a longer trial for only £4.25!

Have any of you tried this product? Thoughts?

Sleek Eyeshadow Palette - Ultra Matte V2

I received this palette in a beauty subscription box a while ago and immediately gave it to my sister as I wasn't blown away by the colours. However, I recently borrowed it to do a halloween look and thought I'd write a super quick post about it.

The Autumn Tag 2014

1. Favourite thing about Autumn?
I made a whole blog post dedicated to my love of Autumn 'Oh Autumn, How I Love Thee' so I'll just let you all go and look at my list :)

2. Favourite drink
I've made a new drink discovery this year. Not i the sense that it was secret, I just didn;t know it existed. The 'Hot Spiced Apple' from Costa is Autumn in a cup. I've lost count of how many I've already had this year and they've only been out a few weeks. I'd definitely recommend trying it if you haven't yet.

3. Favourite scent/candle
My favourite candle is and always has been the Glade 'spiced apple and cinnamon' (the original, they seem to have changed it this year and I'm not a fan) but I'm currently cheating on that one with a Yankee Candle 'Christmas Memories'. I'm not fussy about seasonal scents, I literally burn my Glade ones all year.

4. Best lipstick?
I'm usually a deep red kind of girl in the autumn but this year I seem to have developed an obsession with purples. This one is the MUA Luxe Velvet lip lacquer in Kooky.

5. Go to moisturiser?
Anothew new addition for this year. My favourite moisturiser is the Vaseline Spray and Go. I've never used another which comes anywhere close to being as effective as this one.

6. Go to colours for the eyes?
I'm a fan of a brown smoky eye all year around but in Autumn it's nice to be able to go a little darker with the tones.

7. Favourite music or band/singer to listen to?
I don't particularly have a band/ singer that makes my feel Autumnal. I've just posted my iTunes  'Top 25 Most Played' for the last couple of months.

8. Favourite outfit to wear (i.e. boots & a scarf combo)?
Anything with a polo neck.

9. Autumn treat?
Chocolate apples.

10. Favourite place to be?
In bed. Or at work watching all of the Christmas gifts coming through the tills. Lets face it, It's October and our Christmas displays are already going up. I hate Christmas but I love tinsel, Christmas music and gift sets so working in retail is ideal this time of year.

I tag anyone who wants to do this. Leave me a link to your answers :)

What's in my travel makeup bag?

I'm not a massive one for spontaneity but I recently took an overnight impulsive trip to London. The reason for my visit? To see the original 'Queen Ginge' on the West End. Lindsay Lohan has been my favourite celebrity for years. I adore the woman! And let's face it, what other chance am I going to get to see her? So I booked on the Wednesday night and by Friday I was sat in the theatre pinching myself. I'm still not convinced it actually happened but let's move on.

I only went overnight (I was there less than 24 hours) so my makeup bag wasn't drastically different to my everyday bag but I thought I'd share what I packed into my absolute favourite Cath Kidston.

  1. Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner
  2. Avon Glimmerstick Brow Definer in Blonde
  3. Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in 1 Fair
  4. Model Co More Brows in Light/ Medium
  5. Carmex Moisture Plus
  6. Manhattan Soft Mat Lipcream in 56K
  7. Essence I <3 Extreme Crazy Volume Mascara in Black
  8. Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation in 010 Light Porcelain
  9. nail clipper
  10. spoolie

Oh Autumn, How I Love Thee

Summer is (finally) behind us. Don't hate, you've all had more than enough sun this year, I just prefer the colder of the four seasons.
Here are just twelve reasons I've got a lot of love Autumn/Winter.

1) Layers. Layers, layers and more layers. The more layers the better in my eyes. A bit like Joey on that episode of friends.
I'm not a seasonal dresser. I wear black tights all year around, I don't do getting my legs out.

Specifics -
I love 'beanie weather'. I don't really have a face that suits hats but I got really into beanies last Winter and I love throwing one to add to the cosy look.
Turtle necks are my favourite. I'm definitely planning on stocking up on every colour I can get my hands on whilst they're in season. They're so classic and versatile.

2)Boots. I love boots, they are my favourite footwear. I'm 100% not a fan of feet. I don't do sandals or flip flops because I'm a firm believer that, unless you're on a beach, there's no reason for me to be able to see your toes. Put them away. My favourite boots always tend to fall apart mid spring which means I have to wait months for them to come back into season to restock. Annoying!

3) Getting to watch Hocus Pocus without people pointing out it's a halloween film. I obviously already know that, I just love it.

4) My favourite candle being stocked again. I only burn one candle and I don't care what time of year it is. I love the Glade Spiced Apple and Cinnamon candle but it's limited edition through Autumn and Winter so I literally form a collection to last me the year. I'm down to my last three but luckily they've resurfaced in shops.

5) Tea. Flavoured tea to be more exact. Lipton Warming Apple and Cinnamon and Twinings Gingerbread Green Tea are my favourites. They also help make any room smell awesome.

6) Rain. Call me crazy but I just love the stuff. I really like the smell and there's something seriously refreshing about rain.
7) Thunderstorms are even better. I love the sound of the thunder and lightning talking to each other. Not to mention how peaceful and clear the air gets after a big storm.

Especially when......

8) Drinking wine in front of the fire. There's nothing like coming home from work and cosying up in front of the fire with a glass of wine to watch tv.

9) Having the electric blanket on making it super hard to get out of bed. I tend to snooze my alarm a lot more in Autumn.

10) Flushed cheeks from being out in the cold.

11) When the leaves become the same colour as my hair.

12) I love finishing work when it's dark. I'm not sure why I like this so much but it's been dark when I've left all this week and I just find it really satisfying to walk home in the dark.

What are your favourite things about Autumn?

Best Dressed - Met Gala 2014

Emma Stone in Thakoon. Who knew such a simple look could be so stunning? She even kept the hair and makeup simple. Emma Stone is one of the only people who could pull that off for me. Everything she wears looks effortlessly A-list. Not to mention the fact that us gingers totally suit a bit of pink :p

Suki Waterhouse in Burberry. Suki was the first look I saw from this years Met Gala (from my constant refreshing of Instagram) and she remained my absolute favourite the whole time! She looked like such a princess.

Cara Delevingne in Stella McCartney. Monochrome is one of the best trends to ever exist and I doubt it'll ever go out of style. Add to this the fact that she wore a trouser two piece and she glides her way to (almost) the top of my best dressed of the night.

Who were your best dressed this year?

My Top 5.....Foundations (for the palest of the pale)

I'm not a massive fan of spending a lot of money of foundation because I just find it a really boring product and I change my routine every couple of weeks. That being said, I find it almost impossible to find a shade that is pale enough for me on the high street.
I won't necessarily be repurchasing some of these because whilst they are pale, they don't all work on me but I find they are the best/nearest colour matches.

Dainty Doll in Medium
I never thought I'd find a foundation where I wasn't the palest shade available but, alas, I'm actually medium in this one.
It is just enough coverage to even out my skin tone with a slightly dewy finish.

L'oreal True Match Foundation in C1 Rose Ivory
I love this foundation!
I call this 'my face but clearer' because it is like a second skin. First things last ALL day. It is a dewy finish with a medium coverage and it will cover any redness..

Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation in 100 Ivory
Whilst the bottle claims that this will last 25 hours, I can't seem to get it to last the 8 that I usually have makeup on for. I don't think it agrees with my skin type.
Also, as you can see from the picture, this 'Ivory' shade is a lot more orange toned than the others.

Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation in 103 Ivory
When I bought this foundation this was the lightest shade they had and the swatch on my hand seemed a good fit.
When I apply this as a full face it is too orange for me but I've started applying it lightly over my Dainty Doll foundation as a second layer to add dimension and to add a touch more colour and it lasts all day.
When this runs out I'll definitely be repurchasing but maybe this time in a more suitable shade so I can wear it on its own.
101 Porcelain sounds perfect.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in 010 Light Porcelain
Personally, this foundation is hit and miss for me. I find that it has yellow undertones whereas I'm more pink which isn't always the most flattering.
The 'Wake Me Up' aspect seems to stem from the fact that this contains sparkles which make your skin more awake but I'm not a massive fan of the 'Edward Cullen' look. If I'm wearing this one i tend to use the Rimmel Stay Matte powder over the top.
Onto the positive and the reason that this is a brilliant foundation for pale people. This shade is perfect for people as pale as me, the handful of you who exist.

Anybody have any holy grail foundations for us fair skinned folk??

My Top Ten TV Shows (Ever!) Part 1

I came across an old post on EssieButton where she'd done this and I thought it was a good idea. It gives more of an insight into me as a person and are amazing recommendations if you haven't seen them.

The Vampire Diaries
The Vampire Diaries is the story of two vampire brothers, obsessed with the same girl, in a small town with more than its share of supernatural beings (source)

My love of vampires started with the ultimate - Angel, and despite the fact that I think Elena totally chooses the wrong brother, I still absolutely love this show. I'm not going to lie, the hot guys totally help this one. I love anything supernatural and this has so much going on that I was bound to jump on board.

Melissa and Joey

US Sitcom about a newly elected politician and the man she employs to look after her nephew and niece when they are suddenly left in her care (source)

I have loved Melissa Joan Hart from the age of about 7 when I used to come home from primary school every day, sit cross legged in front of my grandparent's tv and watch countless episodes of Sabrina on Nickelodeon. She is still as hilarious as ever in Melissa and Joey. The character development in this show is brilliantly realistic and I do love a good will they?/won't they?

Doctor Who
The Doctor is an alien Time Lord who travels through all of time and space in his TARDIS (source)

I don't know whether it's cheating having this on the list because I'm only a fan on a few series of it but those few series were so amazing that I do class it as one of my all time favourite shows. From the first Christopher Eccleston episode until the last Matt Smith episode, I'm a fan. I've got them all on dvd, I watch them loads but I simply don't think the current doctor/companion are for me unfortunately.

Absolutely Fabulous
Public relations maven Edina and best friend Patsy drive sensible daughter Saffron up the wall with their self-absorbed, substance-abusing escapades (source)

They've got dream jobs, they are hilarious and they know how to have a seriously good time. What's not to love?

Sitcom starring Miranda Hart. It doesn't matter what Miranda attempts in life, whether it's dating or simply dealing with her overbearing mother, she always seems to fall flat, quite literally (source)

Miranda engages mouth before brain, has absolutely no spacial awareness and has been mistaken for a transvestite but she also runs a joke shop with her best friend and bagged gorgeous Gary so I'd have no problem being her.

What tv shows are you guys loving?

My Top 5: Fashionable Couples

I recently saw this post on the Glamour Magazine website and thought I'd get involved.
Tying to narrow this down to just five proved to take a lot longer than I imagined. Once I started compiling my list it got a tad out of control but I finally got there (I might need to do a part 2 at some point)

1) Olivia Palermo and Johannes Heubl

2) Behati Prinsloo and Adam Levine

Who are your favourite celebrity couples who look super stylish in both candid shots and at events?

My Top 5: Bomber Jackets

The bomber jacket trend shows no signs of letting up so I thought I'd make a list of my top 5 that are currently available to purchase.

1) The 'Sarah Metallic Faux Leather Sleeve Bomber' from
Boohoo. I love this jacket because it isn't boring. Bomber jackets typically have quite a retro vibe about them but the metallic colours add a futuristic element.

 2) I'm a monochrome girl through and through. I'm trying to branch out and reach for more colour but more often than not I'm still going to my trusty blacks and whites. This jacket from PrettyLittleThing is the perfect everyday jacket. The classic print would also go with almost any outfit you were to wear it over. This jacket would be a steal with the amount of years it could be a wardrobe staple for.

3) Green is a big trend this season and as a redhead it's a trend I'm willing to jump on-board with. This gorgeous green bomber from Forever 21 is the perfect tone for paler skin and would be the perfect go to jacket to just throw on for a casual day.

4) I'm a massive fan of bouchle and navy so this jacket from Yumi immediately caught me eye. I really like that this jacket would look great over a dress or with a simple pair of jeans. The gold zips add something extra for me.

5) This version by H&M is perfect for British winters as it is quilted and could easily be layered. I absolutely love everything about this jacket. I love that it could easily have been in the costume department of an 80's movie. I love the two massive pockets on the front. I love the colour and I love the ribbing on the cuffs.
I'm heading to a town with a H&M in a few days and I'm not sure I have the willpower to resist heading to find myself one of these.

Are you a fan of the bomber jacket? Do you have any favourites out there at the moment?
